Bingo Tournament Rules: How to Run a Multi-Round Competition

A single-night bingo game is fun, but a multi-round tournament takes the excitement to a completely different level. Tournaments create ongoing competition, build anticipation between sessions, and produce a clear champion — perfect for clubs, fundraisers, and recurring community events.

Tournament Structure Options

Single Session Tournament

All rounds played in one evening. Points are awarded per round based on placement (1st = 5pts, 2nd = 3pts, 3rd = 1pt). Player with the most points at the end wins the tournament prize.

Multi-Session League

Weekly or monthly sessions over a set period (4–8 weeks). Players accumulate points across sessions. Grand finale event to crown the overall champion. Works well for clubs and community groups.

Scoring System

  • Standard win: 5 points
  • Winning with fewer than 45 balls called: Bonus 3 points
  • Blackout win: 10 points
  • Participation (attending all rounds): 2 points per session

Tie-Breaking Rules

  • Tie in points: Play a sudden-death Corners round — first to win advances
  • Tie in final: Speed round — 3-second auto-call, first BINGO wins
