Types of Bingo: 75-Ball, 90-Ball, 30-Ball and More

Most people think of bingo as one game — but there are actually several distinct formats played in different countries. Each uses a different card layout, ball count, and winning conditions. Here's your complete guide to the major types of bingo.

75-Ball Bingo (North America & Asia)

This is the most common format in the United States, Canada, and much of Asia including the Philippines. It's the format used by Funny Bingo.

  • Card: 5×5 grid with letters B-I-N-G-O across the top
  • Number range: 1–75, divided across columns (B: 1–15, I: 16–30, N: 31–45, G: 46–60, O: 61–75)
  • Free space: Center square (N3)
  • Winning: Complete a specific pattern — line, X, Blackout, etc.
  • Best for: Pattern-based games with lots of variety

90-Ball Bingo (UK, Australia, Europe)

This is the dominant format in the United Kingdom, Australia, and most of Europe. It's slower and more methodical than 75-ball.

  • Card: 9×3 grid (called a "strip" of 3 tickets)
  • Number range: 1–90
  • Free space: None — 15 numbers per ticket in specific positions
  • Winning: Three stages — One Line, Two Lines, Full House (all 15 numbers)
  • Best for: Longer games with multiple winners per round

80-Ball Bingo

A hybrid format popular in online bingo sites. It bridges the gap between 75-ball and 90-ball.

  • Card: 4×4 grid with 16 numbers
  • Number range: 1–80
  • Winning: Line, column, pattern, or full house depending on the game variant
  • Best for: Online play — faster than 90-ball, more structure than 75-ball

30-Ball Bingo (Speed Bingo)

The fastest format, designed for players who want quick games.

  • Card: 3×3 grid with 9 numbers
  • Number range: 1–30
  • Winning: Full house — fill all 9 squares
  • Best for: Short sessions, mobile gaming, younger players

Swedish Bingo

A Scandinavian variant using a 5×5 grid but with numbers 1–100 and different column distributions. Popular at Swedish community events.

Which Format Should You Use?

For Philippine game nights, school events, and fundraisers, 75-ball bingo is the standard. It's what most people are familiar with, and it's what Funny Bingo is designed for. The pattern variety keeps games interesting round after round.
